And I said…. where does the time go? And you said…”I don’t know”

I’ve got so much music info in my head that I don’t know where to start…let’s start with the Whiskey Hymnal Tour… all around Nova Scotia over the next while…Petite Riviere, Halifax, Cape Breton, Chester, they’re on facebook… moving on….Carmel Mikol released her new CD last night at the Foggy Goggle…and darn, I wasn’t there…but Stephanie Domet played Carmel today on the Mainstreet show on CBC and you can find Carmel Mikol playing all over town and beyond…up and coming…sure to be a household name and on many a stage over the next while…. seems many of my peeps are at SXSW judging from the twitter and facebook activity. We’re on twitter too…what are we called? acousticroof of course!!!

Our Thom Swift show here in our own venue is nearing the fullish mark but we always squeeze more in…always good food, always great music. Sometimes I wonder what we did before the house concerts came into our lives….
All you Kev Corbett fans, or fans of The Carleton on Argyle Street in Halifax NS, or if you just plain like MUSIC you can check out the Sing for Your Supper event every Saturday afternoon…Kev is the host…Carmel Mikol is actually one of the musicians taking part on Saturday, March 21…and darn, I can’t go…again… I hope Kev takes the stage every week – he deserves it during the development and production of his upcoming CD “Son of a Rudderless Boat” :) which is by the way pretty much my fave Kev Corbett song. At least for today. hmmm what else…well we are into Twitter – with many many tweets under our belts and you can find us there and become followers…and maybe we’ll follow you back. Especially if you have some kind of music to share. I’d be lax if I didn’t at least mention my other blog, “beads for every need” a natural result of having a website devoted to jewellery and beads, polymer clay art brooches, and great hammered metal work…

Patchwork’s show with Steve Poltz and Coco Love Alcorn was something of a “love-in” last week with about 45 attendees, all part of an historic DVD production…and they got to buy the DVD on site, that very evening. Steve and Coco are two of my faves, for sure, and darn, I missed that one too. Do I ever get out anymore? Well I make up for getting out by hosting great shows here at Lift the Wind Concert Series, which is our personal venue, and where this whole thing sorta started for us almost three years ago. Sunday March 22nd we are hosting Thom Swift, as you know from previous notes, and we are lucky to have a surprise guest coming with her guitar to treat us to a song….the one and only Kim Wempe whose soulful and over the top voice is going to rock this house at least once during the afternoon…just at the start of the second set, I think….whoops, I’d better let Thom know….(I know he’ll be fine with it after being part of the In the Dead of Winter Festival with Kim just a few short weeks ago…) I know our audience is going to love her. It won’t be long before I will be tempted to start booking commercial gigs and hiring people like Thom and Kim to grace the stage.

Well, as much as I’d like to ramble here for a few more paragraphs, I think it’s time to fold up the tents for the night…so cross your fingers folks and hope I chat again soon….heard a neat thing about Amelia Curran’s recent impact…Peter Katz is kicking off a major campaign to pre-sell his new CD (and it is going to be awesome!) and Rose Cousins is writing for the next CD so world, prepare yourself for a treat. Then there’s Erin Costelo’s new CD on May 31st, and Kim Wempes in the fall…what a year it is going to be. And I almost forgot – Christina Martin = ECMA.
